Musical direction of la Chorale des Intrépides

Bruce Waldie

In September 2014, Mr. Bruce Waldie took over the artistic direction of the choir, marking the beginning of a renewal of the vocal ensemble. Bruce Waldie has been in the music business for over 40 years. During his years in the public schools of the province of Manitoba, he worked in the areas of choral music, school band and general music. A former director of Les Intrépides and Les Blés au Vent in the 1980s, he also directed the Winnipeg Boys’ Choir and the St. Vital Baptist Church Choir. He has also sung with Manitoba Opera, the Gilbert & Sullivan Society, Rainbow Stage, and for 14 years with the acapella group “The Riffs”. He has been singing with the Winnipeg Singers for 6 years. From 1987 to 1996, he was the supervisor of music programs in the St. Boniface School Division. Bruce has supported the music community as a judge at over 50 festivals in Manitoba, Ontario and Quebec. He has had the pleasure of directing the Chorale des Intrépides since 2014.

Claude de Moissac

A member of the traditional group Bandaline since its inception, Claude accompanied Les Intrépides for the first time in the 1989-1990 season, as well as the Blés au vent (1989-1992, and 2017-present). A musician for several Cercle Molière productions and former musical director for the “Ensemble folklorique de la Rivière-Rouge”, Claude has worked as a pianist at the Contemporary Dancers professional dance school since 1992 and has been musical director at Holy Rosary Catholic parish since 1996, where he has been organist/pianist since 1989.

Claude also does page layout for the “Cahiers franco-canadiens de l’Ouest” and the “Presses universitaires de Saint-Boniface”. He also prepared the musicography and layout of several music booklets for the “Alliance chorale” events.

Claude has also done research in history, having edited the book “Lettres des tranchées” and contributed several articles to the St. Boniface Historical Society’s website, as well as contributions to the book commemorating the bicentennial of the Archdiocese of St. Boniface.
